Contact export

Download troop members as contact cards (.vcf) to import into your phone, with tags and name prefixes to keep them organized.

The Contact Export page lets any member download the troop's adult members as contact cards (a .vcf file) and import them into an iPhone or Android address book in one step. Find it under Pages > Contact Export.

Export your contacts

  1. Open Contact Export. Everyone is selected by default.
  2. (Optional) Narrow the list with the Role filter (everyone / leaders / parents) and the Den or Patrol filter.
  3. (Optional) Uncheck anyone you don't want to include.
  4. (Optional) Add tags, a name prefix, or a name suffix (see below).
  5. Tap Export to download a .vcf file, then open it on your phone to import the cards.

Tags, prefixes, and suffixes

These make the imported contacts easy to find on your phone:

  • Tags become categories on every card (e.g. Troop 36), so you can group or search them in your contacts app.
  • Name prefix is added before each name — e.g. a prefix of T36 turns "Jane Smith" into "T36 Jane Smith", so all troop contacts sort together.
  • Name suffix is added after each name — e.g. (Troop 36).

All of these are applied only to the file you download; they don't change anyone's profile.

What's included

  • Adults only. Parents and leaders are exported with their name, email, phone, and address (whatever they've filled in). Scouts aren't included.
  • Opted-out members are excluded. Anyone who turned on "Hide me from the troop contact export" in their profile won't appear.

Hide yourself from the export

If you'd rather not be included, go to Profile > Edit profile and check Hide me from the troop contact export. You'll be left out of everyone's exports until you turn it back off.
