The dashboard message banner
A short troop-wide announcement shown at the top of every member's dashboard.
The dashboard message is a single short line that shows at the top of the member dashboard, visible to every signed-in family in your troop.
When to use it
Good fits:
- "Sign-ups for fall camp close Friday at noon."
- "Pack meeting moved to the gym this week."
- One-week reminders for time-sensitive items.
Bad fits:
- Long announcements (use email or a Page instead).
- Anything that needs formatting, links, or attachments — this field is plain text only.
Editing
In Admin > Settings > Dashboard Message:
- Type your message into the box. Plain text only — no markdown, no links.
- Click Save.
- To remove the banner entirely, click Clear (or empty the box and save).
The banner updates on every member's next page load — there's nothing to push or notify.
Visibility
Only signed-in members see it. The public site (and unauthenticated visitors to your troop subdomain) does not.
