Subscribe to your troop's calendar

How to add the troop calendar to Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, or Outlook so events show up alongside your personal schedule.

A calendar subscription is a one-time setup that pulls your troop's events into Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook, or any other app that speaks .ics. New events show up automatically — no notifications to manage.

Get your link

  1. On the Calendar page, click Subscribe (the icon at the top right; the word is hidden on small screens).
  2. If this is your first time, click Generate Subscription Link. MyTroop creates a personal .ics URL just for you.
  3. Click Copy to put the URL on your clipboard.

Next time you open Subscribe, your URL is already there — you won't have to regenerate just to see it.

The URL looks like https://yourtroop.mytroop.org/api/calendar.ics?token=… and includes a long random token tied to your account.

Filter what you subscribe to

The Subscribe dialog has the same filter controls as the Calendar page: den (Cub Scouts), patrol (Scouts BSA), and category. When you first create your link, the filters default to whatever you've got selected on the Calendar page, so your subscription matches what you see in MyTroop.

Change a filter in the Subscribe dialog and it saves automatically — your calendar app will see the new scope on its next refresh, no regenerate needed.

Treat it like a password

The token in the URL is what proves you are the one subscribing. Anyone with the link can read the same events you can. Don't share it, don't post it publicly, and don't paste it into messaging apps that auto-link-preview.

If the link leaks, click Regenerate Link in the Subscribe dialog. The old URL stops working immediately, and you'll need to update any calendar app you've already added it to. Your saved filters carry over to the new link.

Adding the link to your calendar

Apple Calendar (Mac)

  1. File > New Calendar Subscription.
  2. Paste the URL.
  3. Set "Auto-refresh" to Every 15 minutes for the freshest data.

Apple Calendar (iPhone/iPad)

  1. Settings > Calendar > Accounts > Add Account > Other > Add Subscribed Calendar.
  2. Paste the URL into "Server" and tap Next.

Google Calendar

  1. Open Google Calendar in a browser (this can't be done in the mobile app).
  2. Find Other calendars in the left sidebar, click the +, then From URL.
  3. Paste the URL and click Add Calendar.

Google refreshes subscribed calendars every few hours — expect some lag.

Outlook

  1. Calendar view > Add calendar > Subscribe from web.
  2. Paste the URL, give it a name, and click Import.

What's included

Your subscription mirrors what you see on the Calendar page in MyTroop — same recurring expansion, narrowed by whichever filters you've saved on your subscription. If your troop's admin removes an event, it disappears from your subscription on the next refresh.

The subscription is read-only. RSVPs, payments, and edits all happen in MyTroop, not in your calendar app.
