RSVPs — enabling, capacity, attendee types
How to turn on RSVPs and use capacity caps for adults and scouts.
Turn on RSVPs when you need to know who's coming. Otherwise leave them off — every interactive section can be skipped.
Enabling
In the event form, check Enable RSVP. Several extra sections appear:
- Legal disclaimer (waiver) — optional. See Waivers and disclaimers.
- Allow guest attendees — when checked, families can list non-member additions (extended family, friends).
- Max adults and Max scouts — optional capacity caps.
Capacity caps
Each cap is independent and optional:
- Leave both blank for unlimited capacity.
- Set just Max scouts to cap kids without limiting parent volunteers.
- Set both to cap a campsite that has a hard headcount.
When the cap is reached, MyTroop blocks new "Yes" RSVPs from exceeding it. Existing yeses are not auto-bumped if you lower the cap later — you'll see the over-cap state in the event roster and can manually adjust.
Attendee types
When a parent RSVPs, they answer for each family member individually:
- Each scout gets a Yes / No / Maybe.
- Each adult in the family gets a Yes / No / Maybe.
- If guests are allowed, they can also add a count of extra adults and scouts.
Scout guests count toward Max scouts, adult guests count toward Max adults.
Late or changed RSVPs
There's no hard deadline — parents can update their RSVP at any time, including after the event. If you need a deadline, communicate it in the description.
Leaders can edit any family's RSVP from the event detail page (useful for parents who reply by text).
