Default event disclaimer

A reusable disclaimer that RSVP-enabled events can opt into.

Many troops want a standard waiver or release-of-liability paragraph attached to every RSVP. The default disclaimer is a single block of rich text that you author once in Settings and then opt-in per event.

Setup

In Admin > Settings > Default Event Disclaimer:

  • Paste or type your disclaimer into the rich-text editor.
  • Use bold, italic, lists, and links as needed.
  • Click Save.

Leaving the field empty is fine — it just means new events won't have a "Use troop default" option.

How it's applied

When a leader creates an event with RSVPs enabled, the disclaimer section offers up to three choices:

  • No disclaimer — RSVPs do not require acknowledgment.
  • Use troop default — uses what you set here. Shows a preview to the event creator.
  • Custom — opens a per-event editor so the leader can write something specific to this trip.

The "Use troop default" option only appears if you've actually saved a default. The choice is per-event, so you can mix defaults and custom waivers across the calendar.

What parents see

When an attendee RSVPs Yes to an event with a disclaimer, they must check an "I agree" box before the RSVP is recorded. The text and timestamp are stored with their RSVP for your records.
